The hiatus is over. After five years, Bloodhound Gang are back with a bang – in the crudest sense imaginable. Well, you wouldn’t expect anything less from them.
The monkey boys who broke it down to us in ‘The Bad Touch’ (the ‘Discovery Channel’ song) spell it out phonetically with ‘Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo’. It’s actually another ode to getting laid, an update or follow-up, if you like, to their huge hit record but lacking the fast-talking and witty lyrics Jimmy Pop usually comes up trumps with. The double entendre references are rife but don’t come close to such favourites as “I want you smothered, want you covered like my Waffle House hashbrowns”. In fact, the words sound tiresome from a bunch approaching or in their mid-30s.
Their fourth album Hefty Fine is dropped next week (featuring a naked Phil Jupitus look-a-like on the sleeve) and the group tour the UK in November. With any luck they won’t have lost their bad touch on that.
