Placebo: Soulmates Never Die - Live In Paris 2003
By Molly Lavender
Monday, 15 March 2004
Placebo make their first foray into the DVD market with this combination of live footage and documentary film released to correspond with their Sleeping With Ghosts album.

The live footage is taken from their run of sell-out shows at Le Zenith in Paris last year.  Spanning 97 minutes, the ‘cebo certainly know how to give value for money.  Highlights include a version of ‘Protect Me from What I Want’ sung in French and, as an encore, an extra special treat in the form of a duet with ex-Pixies frontman Frank Black on ‘Where Is My Mind?’ (originally made famous by The Pixies, as if you didn’t know).

The one downside I can really think of about this DVD is that the lengthy gig footage might prove a little boring for non-Placebo fans.  The only answer I can give to that is this: if you don’t like Placebo, don’t buy this disc.  Simple as.   For everyone else, it’s a documentation of one of Britain’s best loved bands at the top of their game, and you can’t say fairer than that.  See you at the bitter end, kids.
