The second single release from London-based The Feeling inhabits a world where even the fluffy white clouds have smiley happy faces. ‘Fill My Little World’ follows up surprise top-10 hit ‘Sewn’, and it’s the sunniest four minutes of indie pop since The Thrills inexplicably got under everyone’s skin three years ago.
‘Fill My Little World’ hops along like the result of a blender accident involving albums from ELO, Supertramp and The Bluetones. It’s short on meat, muscle or invention, but offers more killer hooks than a teen slasher movie.
Its biggest problem is that it’s no longer 1975 nor, for that matter, 1995. Against a landscape of the dominant forces of Green Day, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand, the song is in serious danger of sounding all a little bit too twee. Just don’t be surprised to find yourself humming the harmony-happy chorus while dreaming of lazy days and picnics in parks. (3/5)
