Seemingly destined (or hoping) to be an eternal student, Ben has spent the last five years at Jesus College, Oxford, where he’s already done a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a Masters, and now he’s hoping to prolong the experience of lazy mornings and dusty libraries by doing a doctorate in political philosophy. His proposed thesis is on the use of random selection in democracy.
Aside from the studying, he’s spent the last few years writing music reviews for the Oxford Student newspaper, before joining uk-fusion. His musical tastes are somewhat eclectic. He generally prefers electronics to guitars, but rock/metal to dance music, which gives him a penchant for goth/industrial stuff that combines both such as Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Apoptygma Berzerk, Depeche Mode, etc. Those aside, he also likes Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Machine Head, Cyclefly, Rico, BT and VAST.
When he’s not studying or listening to music, he’s settled into the quieter life of a post-graduate student, where going for a drink with friends usually means coffee rather than half a dozen pints and a dodgy kebab. He lives a fairly boring life really, also spending a lot of time on the internet or watching TV, and supporting Liverpool FC. One day, he might get really bored, and contemplate a real job and a place of his own. |
