With this week significantly bearing the date 06.06.06, it's not just Lordi getting in on the act to release a memorably themed record. Welsh boys The Automatic follow up their second single, 'Raoul' with the stomping 'Monster', and the odds look good that this attempt will be third-time lucky and guarantee them a high ranking in the charts.
A raucous mix of disco-punk, the song bears an uncanny similarity to The Jam (or is it just me then?) and features the unmissable and catchy chorus "What's that coming over the hill? Is it a monster? Is it a monster?" Chances are it will eat away at you after too many listens but its daftness is irresistable.
The song is accompanied by a hilarious video featuring the beast from Harry and the Hendersons body-popping in an enchanted forest while the band traipse through, sporting dodgy stick-on beards and colourful cagoules. We await the debut album, Not Accepted Anywhere with intrigue then. (4/5)
