Ever wondered what a year in the life of Liverpudlians Atomic Kitten is like? Is it full of high-lights and ceramic hair straighteners? Well, yes but that's just scratching the surface of this DVD.
Be With Us is an insight into the hectic schedule of Atomic Kitten over a period of 12 months with a lengthy documentary filmed by the Scousers themselves, and it's quite an eye-opener to see what they managed to squeeze in - launching a clothing range for teenage girls, endorsing an MG car, being dolled up for video shoots, dashing from one show to the next and visiting the Far East for promo work and the MTV Asia Awards, where they are huge.
Chronologically spliced together and light-hearted, it's a surprisingly entertaining package and not just for the fans. The fact remains Jenny Frost is crap at singing live (as shown in the clip of the Kittens warming up for the a TV show) and you get to see what Tash Hamilton looks like without make-up (and the difference is big) but for what is claims to be, the DVD pretty much depicts what goes into preening a popstar.
Highlights are their stop-over in Singapore (the sights of the city gives you cravings to visit it), when they go shopping in Bangkok where they come across counterfeit copies of their album on a market stall (and confront the owner) and when they perform 'The Cheeky Song' during a radio interview.
Also featured are five videos of their pop-friendly hits including their Christmas single 'Ladies Night' and a gallery (I've never quite figured out what the point of one is). There's nothing on here that's shocking (well apart from Tash without her slap on) or ground-breaking - it's simple and fun with a PG rating. And I didn't have to insert a pussy joke anywhere either. (3½/5)
