This Oxford-orientated quintet have been around for some time but this is their debut release, unleashed on the Transmitter label that has been created especially for them and to promote their pronounced emo-rock talents.
They've previously played with InMe, Hell Is For Heroes and One Minute Silence, with plenty more 2004 shows beside the up-and-coming likes of Firstborn, Shouting Myke and Aconite Thrill, and album track 'Glitch' has featured on a Rock Sounds cover-mount CD compilation.
The opening tune from this six-track mini-LP roars for England in the form of 'Dream Like Saul’, and its devastating dynamism certainly prevails before 'Glitch' proceeds to rampage in a similar manner.
Still, these guys have been noted for their more tender musical moments too, with 'Solaris' perhaps being the most touching example here as frontman Patrick Currier wears both his heart and soul on his sleeve and more than shows his sensitive side before the overwhelming chorus rears its head.
Similarly, the final track 'Reflect' bustles in with a full-on rock attitude prior to its far more chilled-out verse, proving that guitarists Richard Purves and Luke Rickett can maintain restraint if and when necessary, before the high and mighty guitars once again crank it up that much louder and faster and into a far more emotionally volatile stasis of euphoria.
Already loved by Radio 1's legendary DJ Steve Lamacq, Days Of Grace will be on us before we know it and then we'll have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. (4/5)
