We’ve all had that Monday-morning feeling; the realisation that the weekend is further away than ever. That at least 40 hours of your next five days will be spent in a state of mind-numbing tedium. For the benefit of any idler who has bothered to click on this review, I’m referring to the world of work.
Harrisons, yet another product of the Sheffield music scene, know more about drudgery than most. Until recently, they laboured as builders by day. ‘Monday’s Arms’ is the first fruit of the band’s sessions with producer Hugh Jones, who’s previously collaborated on projects with the likes of Shack, Echo & The Bunnymen, and The Teardrop Explodes and the influence of these bands seems to have trickled down into the heads of the Yorkshire rockers osmosis-style.
We’ve all had that Monday-morning feeling. Listening to this slice of dance-flecked mayhem will alleviate those blues. So, if you’re feeling down, let Harrisons lift you reet up. (3¾/5)
