Madina Lake: a quiet, isolated and sleepy lakeside town situated high in the American mountains. Its seclusion from the world has lead to it being trapped in the 1950s; the whole place created in the mind of bass player, Matthew Leone.
Drawing influences from the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins, From Them, Through Us, To You is a concept album about the mysterious disappearance of the young and beautiful Adalia in Madina Lake.
Adalia and her lakeside town is the device for the band to vent their views on politics, culture and society’s fixation with celebrity status. It provides a soundtrack to the crime, deceit, hurt, and numerous strange goings on within this metaphorical dwelling.
It is certainly refreshing to have a band such as Madina Lake, with their predominately young fan-base, so determined to send out messages to their listeners through songs with poetic and emotionally driven lyrics. The opening track, ‘Here I Stand’ has been the sing along anthem for all gigs, sending a frenzied crowd into heights of euphoria. Lead singer Nathan Leone explains that the debut single, ‘House of Cards’ is about “people who keep a million secrets”.
Every song is a memorable anthem of its own, filled with catchy riffs and heart felt guitar solos, and each one being a little piece of the puzzle to solving the mysterious disappearance of Adalia. Subtle clues are also hidden within the band’s artwork and on the website. Together all 12 tracks are a journey of great significance.
