Today’s Radio 1’s A-listed record is tomorrow’s reduced-to-clear CD. Such is the transitory nature of the music industry. A point hammered home by Q who recently described The Pigeon Detectives as “this week’s ‘new Arctic Monkeys’.”
In fact, the Leeds-based Detectives have been around for as long as that lot from Sheffield.
Both groups formed in 2002. It’s just the Monkeys broke through, whilst The Tecs remain on the periphery.
The re-released ‘I’m Not Sorry’, it originally came out as a limited edition a year ago, should change all that. Boasting the swagger of Kasabian, vocalist Matt Bowman, Oliver Main on lead guitar, fellow guitarist Ryan Wilson, Dave Best on bass, and Jimmi Naylor on drums will win hearts. Before conquering minds.
