Digitalism: Pogo (Virgin)
By Matthew Hirtes
Monday, 07 May 2007

Dance music is the new punk. If Jens Moelle and Ismail Tuefekci, the Hamburg-based duo who make up Digitalism, are to be believed. And prepare to be convinced as ‘Pogo’ is some manifesto.

The first single to be taken from impending debut album, Idealism, finds the duo stepping out of their DJ booth. They prove they can pen original compositions that compare favourably to their remix work. Moelle and Tuefekci have previously reworked tracks by The Klaxons and The Futureheads, along with a number of other British indie bands.

Precautionary measures must be taken before playing this single. Remove all valuables from your immediate vicinity as the urge to jump around, House-of-Pain-style, will be as resistable as metal to a magnet. Hey, ho, let’s ‘Pogo’.
