With the nu rave of The Klaxons stealing the limelight, back come The Chemical Brothers to reclaim centre stage as dance music’s overlords. Never mind the tune makes the aims of minimalists look expansionist. What more do you expect from those repetitive-beats meisters Rowlands and Simons?
Tom and Ed are joined by funk-soul brother Ali Love on vocals. The London singer/guitarist/remixer claims to be as influenced as much by Marvin Gaye as Sly Stone. And his hand-on-crotch falsetto is as deliriously catchy as it is frisky.
‘Do It Again’ is a track best played at night, especially if you’re looking to replicate that super-club vibe. Apparently it’s the weakest track on forthcoming sixth album We Are The Night. Now if that’s not a recommendation to pre-order said long-player, I don’t know what is.
