They won’t thank me for telling you but The Orange Lights have been around the block a bit. Lead singer Jason Hart used to play guitar in Spiritualized and the Lights’ co-creator, Paul Tucker, the band’s songwriter and keyboard player, was one half of The Lighthouse Family. Despite, or maybe even because of, such pedigree, you’ll struggle to hear a more invigorating record all year.
Like being attacked by a beautiful women, you won’t realize this song’s claws at first. But they’re there alright, sharpened to the max. Needless to add, but these pincers are powerful enough to reduce a grown man to tears.
‘Let The Love Back In’ precedes the band’s debut album, Life Is Still Beautiful. A long-player, if Tucker is to be believed, full of “big tunes you can sing your heart out to.” Some boast that, considering they don’t come much bigger than this first single.
