Here's Sheenie...

So come on then, how long has it been? We are talking weeks or maybe (eek!) some months. How time flies when you’re having fun elsewhere. Like on Facebook. And buying shoes. But my darlings, I have returned and I will not desert you like that ever again. Well, I’ll try not to. Thank you to Ben and to Ryan for guarding my dignity by gallantly stepping in for me on the editorial page. You both did me proud.

I am also back in the hot seat with writing with Saturday night being responsible for my come-back – I went to see Darren Hayes in a Soho club. Me and about 200 hundred revellers who were Australian. Seriously, I couldn’t turn anywhere without walking into an Aussie. I felt like the only pommie in the village. I also had a Big Brother winner brush past me. It was ex-trolley dolly Brian Dowling and my friend, who progressively got drunk and barked at a couple of blokes for nicking her bottle of wine (one of whom was Darren’s lawyer), accosted the Irishman.

On top of that, no one told me it was Gay Pride on the same day. I thought it was a little early to see drag queens out on the tiles at 6 in the evening. I also had to make sure we didn’t walk into the wrong club. The one Darren performed at was situated in the dingiest side street ever and you couldn’t turn anywhere without seeing an x-rated business of some kind. Quite why a branch of Somerfield was sandwiched in between was anybody’s guess.

Any way, the ex-Savage Garden bloke was superb. Seriously. For a live performer, he was dripping with enough sweat to level the rainfall we’ve had over the last week and hey, the man can sing live. I was also chuffed he did one of my favourite songs (‘Insatiable’), but of course I shall save all this for the review, which I am penning right now. Thank you so much to Darren’s publicist and management for arranging this. They were exceptional and I must acknowledge that.

I may be going to be more gigs now that the smoking ban has come into force from today, although at Darren’s gig, there were only a handful of people lighting up. However, I felt the familiarity of past nights out while waiting for a train at Kings Cross as this little obnoxious prick lit up and proceeded to have a drag. The smoke just wafted into my face and hair. He didn’t look a day over 15 as well. And he couldn’t read the ‘no smoking’ sign in front of him. I wish I had kicked him in the groin as advised by my friend. The little prick!

In other news, I am going to see Russell Brand at the end of this month. I keep shouting about this from the roof top because I am very excited to see the Russian bearded lady live. The only thing is I’ve got to drive to bloody Woking for it.

Right, that’s my ramblings for this week. I think I’ve thrilled you enough and I’m going to see who else can find me on Facebook. Love you!
