The newest grime crew to hit the UK’s urban music scene, Lil Rascals are Merker, Shizznit, and Temper. In their pre- to early teens, they have been performing on stage separately from a precociously young age. uk-fusion gets down with the kids to bow wow about Carnival, heroes, and fame.

First and foremost, guys, where are you all from?

Hey there, uk-fusion. We’re from Bow, east London.

If you were to describe your sound in a text message, how would you do so?

Very good – basically everything in the thesaurus that describes good!

Right. Moving on: who are your heroes and why?

Superman because he wears a cape and he’s not gonna let no-one die. Spider-man because he’s got the same name as me: Peter (Shizznitt).

‘New Era’, one of your MySpace tracks, reveals your love of fashion, but what wouldn’t you been seen dead in?

We wouldn’t be seen dead in a bra, skirt and knickers! But seriously probably Diadora or Skechers trainers.

Just who would be your ideal ‘Future Wifey?

Well to name just a few: Beyonce, Shakira, Ciara and Rhianna. Why? Because they’re nice and we would look good together.

What’s your favourite thing about Carnival?

We’ve only been the once but we like the good vibes. We performed last year and we liked the fact that everyone is there to dance and have a good time.

Who would you most like to appear on the bill with?

50-Cent because he has a good audience and everyone reacts well to him. Jay- Z and Papoose would be great too. Let’s not forget Justin Timberlake either cos he’s an amazing dancer and is really good on stage.

Tell us more about the Festival of Young Arts: how did you get involved and what was playing at Trafalgar Square like?

We got involved through friends and it was a good performance. For us the bigger the crowd; the better. We weren’t nervous at all.

How are your friends and family dealing with your fame?

Our families offer their full support. Our mums are our biggest fans and they give us a lot of encouragement.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Let alone wanna be, we’re gonna be Shizznitt, Tempar and Merker!
