Fakesch by name, fake by nature. What could conceivably be a Prince album is actually written and produced by German producer Michael Fakesch, formerly half of Funkstorung – remixers to the stars, the likes of Bjork, Wu-Tang Clang, and Jean-Michel Jarre. Except it’s not Faksech singing, but soul artist Taprikk Sweezee, who claims co-writing credits on Dos, the belated follow-up to 1999’s Marion.
Dos is a certainly easier on the ear than Marion. Where the predecessor was a stark electronica-heavy affair and totally instrumental, Dos warms with Sweezee’s affectionate tribute to everybody’s favourite Minneapolisean. Truly does Taprikk party like it’s 1999.
