The Twang: Two Lovers (B-Unique)
By Matthew Hirtes
Monday, 27 August 2007

Before Loaded became porn for guys lacking the balls to buy something from the top shelf in the newsagents, it used to feature blokes instead of bints on the cover. Were Brummie lad band The Twang about in those times, it’s a given their mugs would have been staring out at Loaded subscribers. As it is, Loaded’s loss is NME’s gain.

Featuring a video playing up to the group’s geezer status with The Football Factory’s Danny Dyer and Jaime (daughter of Ray) Winstone, ‘Two Lovers’ is the latest single to be taken from a debut album, Love It When I Feel Like This, that’s already gone gold. Sounding like Tim Booth with a heavy cold, vocalist Phil Etheridge demonstrates exactly why James felt they should award a support slot to their so-obviously-still-in-thrall followers on a recent tour. You’ll love to love this baby.
