I like Tyrese.  Despite the fact that I'd never go to a swimming pool with him, he has a talent to match the six-pack and body sculpture. He's been away from the music scene since releasing his last album in 2000. 

Now, most artists would announce their return with a floor-filling, up-tempo dance track. Not Tyrese. This, the lead single from his forthcoming I Wanna Go There album, is an under-whelming ballad that never gets out of second gear.

Tyrese has given us an uber-slick R&B slow-burner -one of those "oh baby, why why why?"-type songs that could have been recorded by any one of a dozen artists, and doesn't go anywhere at all. 

It's very "nice", with his soulful voice and the oh-so-tasteful backing, but it lacks edge. In fact, the band I'm most reminded of by this is Boys 2 Men, and I doubt that was intentional.  Sounds like his acting and modelling career doesn't leave much time for the songwriting.  That we should all be so lucky, eh?
