Film School: Dear Me (Beggars Banquet)
By Matthew Hirtes
Monday, 22 October 2007

Since we last heard from these Californian indie-rockers last year on their eponymous Beggars debut, there have been some changes. Gone are bassist Justin LaBo, Nyles Lannon on guitar, and drummer Donny Dewenhouse; to be replaced by Lorelei Plotcyzk, Dave Dupuis, and James Smith respectively. And singer/guitarist Krayg Burton has reverted to his given name of Greg Bertens. Apart from that, the songs largely remain the same with the band continuing to risk damage to their posture with their proclivity to shoe-gaze, although the heavenly Lorelei does at least contribute suitably ethereal backing vocals to lift the gloom of Burton’s morose mumblings.
