The Sun acclaimed him as “our very Jack Johnson” whilst The Observer hailed his debut album, Hand Built By Robots, as “2007’s perfect soundtrack.” There can only be one of two explanations for Faulkner’s ability to straddle the gulf between acceptance from that populist bible, ver Sun and approval from The Observer, an organ far more discerning of artistic credibility. Either he’s got footballer’s thighs or, more likely as this latest single illustrates, our Newton does the simple things very well.
