In common with their great influence, Nick Cave, you get the distinct impression that Glasgow’s Sons and Daughters are voracious readers of The Bible. And again like Cave you suspect that they favour the Old Testament as there’s far more blood and thunder involved than in the New. ‘Gilt Complex’, see what they did there, boys and girls?, is the first single to be taken from forthcoming third album This Gift and it’s the perfect early Christmas present for the fan of “genuine sex spunk punk”, as one admirer of their brutally-simple, yet chillingly-effective, style of music termed it.
