Freemasons: Unmixed (Loaded)
By Matthew Hirtes
Monday, 29 October 2007

Although a largely reheated affair, with this sophomore offering collating the production duo’s early singles along with tracks from recent double-CD compilation Shakedown, one would be simply wrong to deny the final product qualifies as hot, hot, etc. Apart from the risible cover of Alanis Morissette’s ‘Uninvited’, that is. Which we already deigned to slate rather than rate.

Appealing to fans of Phats and Small, not least because Russell Small forms one half of Freemasons with James Wiltshire, Unmixed is something to slip on to get you in the mood for a night’s clubbing. And if up-tempo handbag house such as ‘Nothing Like A Heartache’ fails to get you moving and grooving, nothing will. Coffin dodger.
