In an alternative universe, Vic and Bob, as they used to be known in ours, are well into the 14th series of The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer. They’ve just recorded a ‘Slade in Residence’ sketch featuring a cameo by Bitty McLean who’s visiting the glam rockers’ noisy neighbours, UB40. To collaborate with their lead singer Ali Campbell on a cover so superfluous it makes watching Antony Cotton’s widely-panned chat show seem the very embodiment of worthwhile.
