If Black Box Recorder ever deigned to reinterpret the works of Saint Etienne, in particular their track ‘Teenage Winter’, they would sound something like this. Having changed the lyrics somewhat but retained a perceptible fragment of the melody. Given the former band’s current inactivity, though, it falls, instead, to a 22-year-old diseuse, to release the cover version that never was, as her debut single.
