Trumpeted as an “Scottish indie supergroup” by Domino, only two-thirds of that tag is actually true. Yes, they hail from Scotland, and, och, and, indeed, ay, their music could be described as independent, but although they include Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson in their gang of four, boasting Royal We bassist Patrick Doyle hardly counts as The Royal We aren’t household names – even in their, I say, I say, own households. Despite all this, their second single sounds like history being rewritten with John Lydon usurping Edwyn Collins as Orange Juice lead singer.
