VV and Hotel are so dirrrty, just as they were back before Jamie Hince's Moss connection. Remember the grimy garage rock of Fuck the People, or Black Rooster, or hot recent single U.R.A. Fever? Well that's all still there, but with added rrrrrooow appeal. Marching drums, hot bassline, shakin' tambourine, sexxy vocals and even a comely coughing fit at the start... this well-timed comeback sees The Kills in fine, danceable form. VV's croaky vocals appealing, "want you to be crazy cos you're boring baby when you're straight", and "you've got the same needs as a dog" are the perfect compliment to Hotel's rock-n'-rolla-cola-ness. Mwah. (4/5) |
