Windmill: Tokyo Moon (Melodic)
By Matthew Hirtes
Monday, 18 February 2008

Where Morrissey sang “I left my bag in Newport Pagnell”, Matthew “Windmill” Dillon appears to have lost his heart in the same location: his hometown. And he hasn’t found it yet by the sound of this latest lovelorn single, another instalment of his distinctive take on alt-country. In fact, this release represents Windmill past, in that ‘Tokyo Moon’ was one of two tracks on the demo that got him signed, and Windmill present, in new b-side ‘Shutters’: both though the musical equivalent of a widescreen movie.
