Son of Dave is also known as Benjamin Darvill. Or that bloke who used to be in Crash Test Dummies. Where he principally played harmonica, mandolin, and both acoustic and electric guitars.
On his fourth solo album, 03, SoD has expanded his repertoire even more. Adding piano, organ, cello to his pre-existing beat-box and foot stomp. A development which prompted Uncut to declare that he “makes even Beck seem conventional”.
If there’s one thing you can count on Son of Dave for, it’s that he’s not going to let the Blues die. Well not without a fight, at any rate. Which suggests a whole new epithet, that of a one-man Alabama 3.
