Single mum by day, single mum and experimental artist by night. That’s Annie Sachs who releases this self-titled debut album, the culmination of four years of recording as a four-track hobbyist. And what it lacks in budget, it more than makes up for in impact.
Haunted by the seemingly random vocal contributions of young son Aidan, Tickley Feather will freeze your bones. Whilst simultaneously warming your heart’s cockles. Yes, it’s some kind of paradox.
For all its streams-of-consciousness lyrics, Tickley Feather is the sound of an artist in complete control of her muse. This laptop folk star also proves that Americana isn’t a dead genre. Annie is the daddy all right.
