No doubt you’re familiar with the phrase "so bad, it’s good." Here’s a new one for you. "So bad, it’s fucking abysmal."
Come share the joy of the new Stereophonics single. Listen to that ripped-off 1960s guitar riff drone on and on ad nauseum. Shake your head and wonder where Ocean Colour Scene are when you need them. It’s *that* bad. There’s more originality in the Hollyoaks omnibus. Someone high up in V2 Towers should do the world a favour and tell the Welsh mediocrities to fuck off and Dai.
They must be stopped, not least because they are fast becoming the only band that make Oasis look cutting-edge. More depressing, future generations of musicians, young and impressionable as they are, might view this as "fun" or, worse, "quite good." The only way this steaming slab of retro shite would sound good is if it was overdubbed with the screams caused by forcibly inserting this CD single into their collective back passage. Sideways. Sans lubricant. It’s 2003, boys, not 1963. This isn’t Back To The fucking Future, and you’re not Marty fucking McFly. Beneath contempt. (0/5)
