Description:
Collection of classic electro and hip-hop tracks, numbering four-dozen in total. Which means? 48 memories of an electro-blessed adolescence. As collectable as Panini stickers but better to listen to, Electro compilations were all the rage in the 80s. This selection is taken from the 1986 UK Fresh concert at Wembley Arena featuring the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Grandmaster Flash and Mantronix. Is it much cop? It’s Starsky. And Hutch. You’ll be bodypopping and breakdancing away like back in the day before you know it. How many good tracks? 48. I shit you not. Here’s some of the more well-known ones: Herbie Hancock’s ‘Rockit’, Grandmaster Flash’s ‘White Lines (Don’t Do It)’ and ‘Bang Zoom (Let’s Go-Go) by The Real Roxanne. Roxanne Shante, we love you. Still. And the worst? 48 minus 48...you do the math. Biggest disappointment? Your old Tacchini tracksuit no longer fits. Neither do your original adidas trainers. Verdict: Puts the ‘d’ into ‘definitive’. How can anything with ‘It’s Like That’, ‘(Hey You) The Rock Steady Crew’ and ‘King Of The Beats’ on it fail to score top marks? It can’t. (5/5)
