Since Earth Girl last filled us in, she has since quit her soul draining day job and finally lived up to her moniker by travelling half way round the world – well, to Australia. As uk-fusion’s globe-trotting correspondent she's circling the planet in search of new music, the latest movies and great travel destinations all for the benefit of you lovely readers.
The fact that she hardly ever gets down to writing any reviews is not entirely her fault –internet access can be expensive and hard to come by. Besides what kind of self-respecting backpacker would spend her time and money tracking down internet cafes and writing reviews instead of hunting down late night bottle shops and buying boxes of cheap wine?
You can thank the lovely people at iRiver for maintaining her sanity during those 12-hour coach journeys around Australia. She is thankful to Franz Ferdinand, The Gorillaz and The Venga Boys for being the life and soul of the late night dorm room party, and Cafe Del Mar for help with the morning after.
If you'd like to sample some of the great Aussie bands she hasn't got around to writing about yet, check out the Rogue Traders, Paris Avenue, End of Fashion, The Veronicas, Spiderbait and for flicks, The Oyster Farmer. The first time Earth Girl did it was quite a surprise. Nobody told her to expect it. She didn't know it was happening until it was too late to do anything about it, but now she's quite happy to do it and does with startling regularity – mixed sex dorm rooms in backpacker hostel – kinkier by the day! |
