Serves plenty
Ingredients: Four straggly southern (US) youths/young men A stack of rock and roll riffs circa 1967 Oodles of high-school lyrics A heap(ed ladle) of bratty attitude
Method:
Marinate the preserved riffs with some Keith-Moon-style drumming to create that authentic rock sound.
Bring the four southerners to the boil in a LA studio in the summertime and leave them to simmer, recording them live on analogue equipment, which includes the original Abbey Road mixing desk used by The Beatles.
Dish up the high-school lyrics alongside the attitude with such a flourish the public will never know what you’re gabbling on about. Unless they happen to read the sleeve notes, that is. “18, balding, star, Golden, fallen, heart” from first single ‘The Bucket’.
And there you have it, a recipe for success and a second successive hit album for the stately Kings Of Leon.
