Poor Britney has been a figure of ridicule of late. What with two marriages in a matter of months as well as references to a certain ex-boyfriend in every article written about her, it can’t have been easy growing up in the lime light.
There’s no doubt about it though that Britney is capable of pulling off a good pop tune and her new DVD celebrates this with all her music videos to date, as well as a few extras thrown in.
We all remember when it started when a young Britney exploded onto the scene in a video which was every young boy’s wet dream. Hell it was every man’s wet dream. OK it has been five years but thinking of Britney still conjures up images of school uniforms and pigtails.
The DVD has a chronological timeline, starting with Britney’s new release: a remake of the classic Bobby Brown hit ‘My Prerogative’, all the way down to the afore-mentioned ‘Baby One More Time’, with everything in-between, and a few extra features chucked in along the way.
Just looking at the DVD, it is amazing just how many songs Britney has released, and how most of them were hits. From the energetic dance routines of ‘Crazy’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ to the more melodious ballads of ‘I’m Not A Girl’ and the recently released ‘Everytime’. OK so there was a slight lull with ‘Boys’ and the subsequent ‘Me Against The Music’ (complete with appalling video), but most of the 20 tunes are catchy songs complete with videos that will make you want to run off to the nearest gym. Now who could argue against that? (4/5) Release Date: 08 November 2004
