For someone who heard little music when growing up, ('Happy Birthday' and 'Silent Night' are cited as examples), newcomer James Blunt has some of the most extraordinary musical talent around today. His second single, ‘Wise Men’ taken from his album, Back To Bedlam is dangerously close to indie perfection. His voice sounds like no other, and while the raw quality is intriguing, the passion in his voice, and indeed his songwriting makes him a possible legend in the making. There is nothing overly complex about ‘Wise Men’ but that is part of its magic. Blunt is doing something simple and simplicity works. With a catchy chorus and beautiful melody in between, drifting from acoustic and electric riffs back into his perfectly flawed voice, ‘Wise Men’ is what every great record should encapsulate.
James Blunt may possibly be our best kept secret, so it does me nothing but pleasure to applaud him for the musical prodigy that he most is.
