Blue: Guilty - Live From Wembley
By Dr Spanky

Paedophilia.  It mightn't be the first word that springs to mind when you think of one of the biggest UK boy bands right now, but it's a word that keeps popping into my head as I trudge through the two hours and ten minutes of sexually-charged throwaway pop that is Blue's new live DVD, Guilty.

It's common knowledge that boy bands sing about love and sex and not a lot else, but how in the name of under-age buggery do Blue get away with this?  The charges?  In 'Rock The Night' pretty boy Duncan slides his hand dangerously close to the nether-regions of a scantily clad dancer whose leg is pressed up against him and gives her inner thigh a good squeeze. The shot moves to the audience, where a 10-year-old girl sporting bunny-rabbit ears is looking on with joyously eager eyes. She doesn't even have breasts yet!

'Bubblin' boasts the most incredibly blatant, vigorous simulated sex you're likely to see off the file-sharing networks. Indeed, tune in at the right moment, switch to 'Duncan' view using the DVD extra option, and you're actually watching a scene from the Paris Hilton video. Those two 8-year-olds in the front row are loving it!

'U Make Me Wanna' - check out the lyrics, kids - "I'm gonna touch you like you've never known before. Let's make looooooove!"  Well, you get the idea.  Filmed at Wembley Arena in front of 12,000 maniacal young fans (did I mention how ridiculously young they are?), this DVD sees Antony, Duncan, Simon and Lee rattle through a large chunk of their third album Guilty
, as well as delivering their chart hits including 'All Rise' and 'One Love'.

The tiresome foursome prance around on a quite impressive stage that looks not dissimilar to an expanded version of the set from Pat Sharp's Fun House, and flamboyant pyrotechnics accent the less dull moments quite effectively at times.  There are plenty of costume changes to keep the wee girls happy, and the odd in-between song comment to get everyone swooning "Is there any single ladies out there tonight?!"(sic). Cringe!

A good stage show, the option to zoom in your favourite Blue boy, and a load of behind-the-scenes footage (boring as it is) make this an obligatory purchase for adoring Blue fans, young and young.

Guilty?  For sure, but I think they've got away with it.
