Ooh, heat wave! And suddenly I don’t feel like doing any work. Well, before I forget, thank you to Mojo for filling in for me last week. I’d have asked her to cover for me again but she’s on holiday. Blah.
Last week, I interviewed Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas and it went very well if you don’t count the bitch of a journey to get to his hotel on time. I won’t go on but basically those crucial 3 minutes the train was stationed at one station played a huge part in me missing my connecting train. I arrived at the final destination of a mainline train station at the precise time I was supposed to be at the interview and tottered up to the next available taxi in my killer stilettos (don’t ask, I had to wear them) in a bid to get there as quickly as possible. The hotel was just down the road and lo and behold, the cab driver laughed at me. Er, hello?! Do you want to get paid for driving half a mile?? And I gave the fool a tip too – why?!!
Surprisingly, I managed to compose myself with that much needed recuperation in the back of the cab and the interview went without a hitch, which you can read right here! So for the rest of the day, I walked around with a stupid grin on my face, satisfied with myself until I decided to pop into the hairdresser’s on the way home in order to book myself an appointment. All was going well until the manager asked if there was anyone in particular I would like to cut my hair. “Josh!!”, I politely replied although I was screaming inside. “Oh, he doesn’t work here any more”. Whaaaaaaaaat?!!!!!!
After a bit of whining and fluttering my eyelashes, he caved in and told me where he would be working (I think he’s between salons!), took my number and promised he’d get Josh to phone the next day. Well in boy talk the next day roughly translates as 2 – 3 days later but I was still pleasantly surprised (OK, ecstatic) when Josh called to arrange an appointment. He was a little too keen though, wanted to book me in the next day and even offered to come to my house. As tempting that may be, I resisted although the thought of being considered one of his ‘private clients’ is giving me all sorts of ideas. I wonder if there are extra benefits…? So! All’s well that ends well. Kind of. Still waiting for Josh to call back to confirm. God, I hope he hasn’t made his escape!
I hope you read the interview with Rob Thomas; it’s very good and he touched my knee, the devil. Also don’t forget to check out the other exclusive interviews we have including Tom McRae, The Dissociatives, Patrick Duff and JJ72. We’ve also got one coming up with St Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell! Gosh, we HAVE been busy! I’ve got to decide what to wear to Rob’s gig tomorrow night so if it’s OK with you, I’d like to be done with this week’s editorial.
